Who we are...

St Matthew’s, Bridgemary and St Thomas the Apostle, Elson are two Church of England parishes working together in plurality, in the deanery of Gosport, in the Diocese of Portsmouth.

In response to God's call we are an open and affirming community of faith.

We affirm our regard for the worth and dignity of all. We recognise, celebrate and give thanks for the many diverse gifts of God among us. We welcome into the body of Christ people of every race and cultural tradition, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental ability and economic status.

We welcome all people and value them for who they are. We support each other, whether occasional or regular, young or old, established or new members of our churches, wherever we are on our journey of faith.

We recognise that belief in God may raise as many questions and challenges as it provides answers. We encourage reflection, questioning and discussion to help us explore and deepen our Christian faith together.

We strive to look inwards and outwards to reach the needs of our congregation, the local community and beyond.”
